Flippin' 'Eck!

Just received some brand new super-flippers

from daughter Maria. Thanks kid !

They're bigger than my old ones,

which look as though they've been chewed by sharks.

So now I can reach impressive speeds.

Here they are on their trial run.

A great success. Get me places fast;

outpace jellyfish and octopussies.

Of course, I will obey local maritime law

and slow down when going through harbours

and passing small leisure vessels.

About Me

I was a war baby, although I didn't know

it at the time.

WWII was a great time to be born in England.

I grew up with the Goon Show, enjoyed the

birth of rock'n'roll, and witnessed the

most glorious years of Manchester United -

all local lads, fondly named 'The Busby Babes'.

And, when I started working, it meant that

alongside me were men who had real

German bullet wounds and shell scars to

show me. And many with bits missing.

What a life, eh? Don't know why I left it,

but I did, in l963, in an old van - my sights

on the land of OZ, but destiny plonking me

elsewhere.

Now I live on a small island in the Pacific,

writing and reminiscing; missing Marmite

but treasuring the marmalade sent by big

daughter.

I'd like to use this site to talk about life on this

fascinating island and maybe inveigle people

into reading my books. I think there's a bit of

something for everyone.... fun, fact and fiction.
